Assessment of international school certificates

Assessment of international school certificates is intended to facilitate the evaluation of school-leaving qualifications obtained abroad and to enable a basic appraisal of their comparability with an Austrian school-leaving qualification.

The assessment issued pursuant to the Recognition and Assessment Act (AuBG) is deemed to be an expert opinion and can be presented when applying for further or higher education courses, training or employment.

The assessment does not replace the recognition of qualifications for access to professions regulated by law (regulated professions). To access such professions, validation or a procedure for the recognition of professional qualifications is required.

In the case of part-time vocational schools, please note that the Federal Ministry of Education (BMB) only assesses school qualifications (part-time vocational school certificates); applications for accreditation of international apprenticeships that grant the right to practise a profession should be sent to the Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, y: anerkennung-lehrabschluss@bmwet.gv.at.
